Policies are normally put in place to properly govern management, and employees. When a situation arises it’s good to not have to reinvent the wheel for each situation. Policies maintain a sense of consistency as long as there is a policy in place for most situations that could arise. Developing an employee handbook or policy manual that is in compliance with state and federal law accomplishes this. Most companies have the same general policies, and then specific customized policies that cater to their work environment. Some of the traits of a good employee handbook or policy manual are that they are ethical, realistic, and easy to read to name a few. When these books or manuals are formulated properly, they not only ensure a comfortable work environment for employees, but they also motivate employees to achieve higher goals which lead to increased revenue.

Needs Assessment/Process Improvement

At times the chance may arise when a company needs to carefully identify a problem or opportunity which needs to be addressed. In some cases the company will rush in and provide training without properly researching the problem or opportunity. As a result the training is a temporary fix, and the company finds itself wasting time, money, and energy. With a proper needs assessment you can permanently change your company or department into the power agent that you want it to be.

There are different events for different occasions. Some events are memorable. Other events are momentous and show appreciation to a group or a person. Then there are events that happen only once in a lifetime. Regardless of the event, it is extremely important that someone is available to make sure that the event is memorable, momentous, and shows appreciation. The right person should have access to a plethora of musicians, caterers, sound technicians, sculptors, and artists that can add great value to the event without adding great cost.

When employing people, consistency and fairness must be maintained at all times. There should be no forms of favoritism or promise breaking when management is concerned. The best way to avoid these situations is to keep documentation on everything. Some important forms and procedures can include records of disciplinary action, full updated job descriptions for each position, an interview guide that asks only job related questions, and a proper filing system.
